Jason Chin

Jason Chin (mc145@duke.edu) (Duke class of ’14; Biology and Music dual major) is an Independent Research Student in the Murphy lab. He is studying the effects of cigarette smoke extract on DNA methylation at the regulatory regions of imprinted genes. He became interested specifically in epigenetics after taking a few undergraduate biology courses as well as getting to know a grad student whose work focused on epigenetics. "I really like the fact that I am able to independently pursue research in an area of my interest and at the same time receive guidance from everyone in the lab whenever I need help.” Jason enjoys making music with other musicians. His primary instruments are piano, string bass, and guitar.
